This video demonstrates three neck stability exercises using a Theraband, designed to strengthen the muscles that support and control movement of the neck.
The first two exercises are side flexion movements – placing the band around the side of the head and slowly tilting the head towards the shoulder, then returning to neutral. This is performed on both sides. The third exercise is a retraction movement – with the band around the back of the head, the chin is drawn gently backwards in a smooth, controlled motion, keeping it level throughout.
Each exercise can be repeated up to 10 times. You will need a Theraband fixed at head height, or someone to help hold it under tension.
These exercises have been recommended by the clinical team at London Bridge Sports Medicine as part of a structured rehabilitation plan. Always perform them as directed by your clinician.
