This exercise builds endurance of the scapular muscles using a tennis ball – bouncing it lightly against the floor while maintaining good shoulder blade position. It is performed lying face down, with the arm held up off the floor, and repeated in different positions with both a straight elbow and an elbow bent at 90 degrees.
The small, repetitive nature of the movement challenges the shoulder’s ability to sustain control over time, which is an important quality for returning to everyday and sporting activities.
This exercise has been recommended by the clinical team at London Bridge Sports Medicine as part of a structured rehabilitation plan. Always perform it as directed by your clinician.
