This exercise uses a gym ball to support and guide leg abduction – moving the leg out to the side – to strengthen the hip abductor muscles. These muscles are important for controlling the alignment of the hip and knee during weight-bearing activities, and are a common focus in hip rehabilitation.
This exercise has been recommended by the clinical team at London Bridge Sports Medicine as part of a structured rehabilitation plan. Always perform it as directed by your clinician.
